Winged Elevator Back Bent has a thin and compact design. It is used to cut the PDL and force the tooth to come out of its socket. Its back-bent design provides better access to distal root ends. They are used with great caution to avoid any damage to the encompassing structure. The tip is inserted between the tooth and the adjacent bone. It is then twisted and left in place- forcing the PDL to stretch and break so the tooth can be extracted easily.
